Friday 27th October 2006

Me and Birdsnest fished Lepe next to the light house, a first time at this venue for us but it look's very promising and I think we will be back there soon for another go. H/W was around 03.00 and we fished from 20.00 till about 01.00, it was a mainly dry night with cloud cover for the whole session and we were using Rag, Mackerel and Cuttle fish. I forgot to take the Squid with us! Normally we would fish the other end of Lepe but as the tide was no good for the time's we were fishing we decided to try the light house end.

Birdsnest caught a Bass off about a pound with his first cast I think on rag and then it went quiet for an hour or so until I had a good bite, I ran over to my rod and waited for it to bite again, when it did i struck it and nothing, got my rig back on the beach to discover my hook had fallen off! I wasn't impressed. Nothing happend after that except for me getting told to move my car from someone's driveway, which in my defence looked like a laybye!!

West Bexington 14/10/06

Birdsnest's Dog fish

We turned up at Ferry bridge at around 20.00 but as we reached the top of the shingle to look over it was like the Blackpool illuminations! Lymington angling club had a match there so we headed for Abbotsbury only to be greated by the same. In the end we fished at West Bexington from about 20.30 till 04.00, managed to pick up 300 grams of lug from West Bay and took some squid from the freezer. Birdsnest Master caught a Dogfish and I had a small pout, I lost what felt like a big fish 5-10 yrds from the shore it snagged the bottom! We could see something in the water with our lamps but couldn't make out what it was then my line snapped. North Easterly wind and cloud cover for the whole session, H/W 01.24.

Oh no! Not looking good for any lug worm....

Never managed to get myself to the beach for low tide and dig my own worms so hopefully West bay tackle will have some left, Just got off the phone to them and they say it's not looking promising! They have plenty now but not sure they will when i get there tomorrow..

Tackle that I will be using for the up and coming adventures.

I will be taking along with me my good old Daiwa SS12OFA beach caster with the new Penn 850 Surfmaster. I will also have my Zziplex Primo and Abu 6500 Sport Mag (I should be called Birdsnest Master really) . I will also take with me my headlamp so that I can see what im doing, no longer using my Coleman northstar as I have heard that it may be effecting the amount of fish we are catching, I will be wearing my new floatation suit bought ready for the long cold winter nights chasing Cod and a decent hat and gloves.

As for rigs it will be a case of whatever I have made up or when im feeling to lazy to make my own I will use Gemini Pennel rigs or up and over's.

Saturday 14th October 2006

Me and Birdsnest Master are going to take a trip down to Chesil beach to fish the Ferry Bridge end of the beach in the hope of maybe catching a few Codling. High water is at 01.24 and we will be taking Ragworm, Squid, Mackerel and maybe some lug if i get up early enough to go and dig them.

One of four Dog fish caught from Milford Shingle on Squid.

A nice flounder caught by Birdsnest Master.

Yet another fine specimen caught by Birdsnest Master at Hythe Marina!
This monster almost stripped my reel bare of line!!

I will try to post as many pictures as possible from our quest and hopefully a few pics of some Cod! I will post a few pics soon of some of our recent trips and im sure that a few of these pics will make you all chuckle.
